Superbuy Review: China Shopping Agent Fees, QC and Shipping Checkpoints

Superbuy is a long-running China buying and freight-forwarding platform for overseas shoppers, with lifetime free basic purchasing, free warehouse QC photos, 90 days of free storage and consolidation across 100+ international shipping lines.

Short answer

Superbuy is an all-in-one China purchasing and forwarding agent. You paste a Taobao, Tmall, JD or 1688 link, pay the item price plus domestic postage, and Superbuy buys it, photographs it on arrival, stores it free for 90 days, then consolidates your items into one international parcel. Basic purchasing fees are waived for life, and 100+ lines cover 200+ countries.

About Superbuy

Superbuy was founded in 2012 and helped establish the reverse cross-border shopping model: an overseas buyer picks a product from a Chinese marketplace, the agent purchases it domestically, inspects it in its own warehouse, stores it, and then forwards it internationally. The company is operated by DOT Technology Hong Kong Limited and reports more than 2.6 million monthly visits, which places it near the top of the agent category by traffic. The service is built around two billing stages. Stage one is the domestic purchase: item price, seller-to-warehouse postage and any purchasing fee. Stage two is the international shipment: freight, optional value-added services and insurance. Superbuy waives the basic purchasing fee permanently on Taobao, Tmall, JD.com and 1688, which means the platform earns mainly on shipping and extras rather than on the act of buying. Second-hand and unlisted sources are priced differently, so the fee line changes with the platform you paste in. Warehouse handling is the part most buyers underestimate. Every item is checked in and photographed on arrival, three free photos by default and more for Weidian, and it then sits in free storage for 90 days. That window is what makes consolidation practical: you can order from several sellers over weeks, reject anything that looks wrong, and ship one combined parcel instead of five small ones. Beyond 90 days storage is charged per item per day up to a 180-day limit. International delivery runs on more than 100 lines to over 200 countries, from economy postal and YunExpress-style services to DHL, FedEx, EMS and sea freight. Pricing is weight, dimension and destination based, quoted after packing, and settled against the deposit you paid. The interface is dense and older than some rivals, but the fee documentation is unusually explicit, and support operates in English and Chinese.

What works well

  • Lifetime waiver of the basic purchasing service fee on Taobao, Tmall, JD.com and 1688 orders

  • Free arrival inspection with 3 QC photos per item, so you can approve or return before shipping

  • 90 days of free storage, giving you time to build a multi-seller haul before consolidation

  • Free parcel consolidation plus optional reinforced, vacuum or moisture-proof packing to cut volumetric weight

  • 100+ shipping lines covering 200+ countries, with a calculator and deposit-then-settle billing

  • Long operating record: founded in 2012 and still one of the largest agents by monthly traffic

  • Broad payment stack, including Wise transfers, cards, Alipay, WeChat Pay and Bitcoin

  • Bilingual support and an English help centre that documents fees line by line

What to check

  • The 0% fee covers mainstream platforms only; Xianyu, Paipai, Zhuanzhuan and unlisted sites carry a flat or percentage purchasing fee that appears at Stage 1 checkout

  • Free storage is 90 days. After that it costs CN¥0.1 per item per day, and items are treated as abandoned at 180 days

  • Destroying the original packaging, removing tags or powering on electronics usually makes an item non-returnable

  • Shipping is billed as a deposit against estimated weight, then reconciled after packing — adding items later does not lock in the original quote

  • Value-added services (detailed photos, reinforcement, try-on photos, ironing) are priced per piece and add up quickly on a large haul

  • Published card and wallet fees change; the September 2026 schedule showed a 3.94% card surcharge and a 3.13% Wise discount

  • Older guides still quote a blanket 3-10% purchasing fee. That no longer applies to mainstream orders, but verify the Stage 1 line on your own invoice

Is Superbuy legitimate?

Superbuy has operated since 2012 and is one of the earliest reverse cross-border shopping platforms in China, run by DOT Technology Hong Kong Limited. Public traffic data puts it above 2.6 million monthly visits, and it publishes a full fee breakdown, warehouse policy, after-sales policy and counterfeit item policy rather than hiding terms in checkout. Our testing team placed orders through the standard link-to-warehouse flow and found the documented stages matched the invoices. That is not a guarantee for every seller on every marketplace — the agent buys what the seller ships, so product quality still depends on the store you choose.

Superbuy checkpoints and the purchasing terms behind them

If you are used to tracking orders as a list of checkpoints, Superbuy maps cleanly onto the vocabulary. 'Stage 1' means the domestic purchase: item price, seller-to-warehouse postage and the purchasing fee. 'Check-in' or 'warehouse receipt' means the parcel has arrived and been logged, which starts the 90-day free storage clock. 'QC' means the arrival inspection and the free photos you use to accept or reject an item. 'Value-added services' are the paid warehouse extras — detailed photos, re-inspection, power-on testing, tag removal, ironing, vacuum bags, corner protectors. 'Consolidation' is merging several arrived items into one outbound parcel. 'Stage 2' or 'international shipping' is the freight bill, charged first as a deposit against estimated weight and then reconciled after packing. 'DI' simply means a distinct item inside a parcel, which is the unit Superbuy uses for storage and per-piece service pricing.

Fees, exchange rate and payment methods

The headline is a lifetime waiver of the basic purchasing fee, so a Taobao, Tmall, JD.com or 1688 order costs the item price plus domestic postage and nothing more at Stage 1. Second-hand and unlisted platforms are the exception and are quoted separately at checkout. The published reference exchange rate was 6.19 CNY per USD in September 2026, and the payment schedule at that date showed a 3.13% advantage for Wise bank transfers against a 3.94% surcharge on credit cards and Apple Pay. Accepted methods include cards, Wise, Bitcoin, Alipay, WeChat Pay, UnionPay and many regional wallets such as iDEAL, Bancontact, BLIK, PIX, PayID, Kakao Pay, GCash, PromptPay, DANA and Touch 'n Go, each with its own percentage plus fixed fee. Rates move, so confirm the current schedule on the payment page before topping up a large balance.

Storage, QC and value-added services

Free storage runs 90 days from check-in. After that Superbuy charges CN¥0.1 per item per day, the maximum holding period is 180 days, and anything unshipped beyond it is treated as abandoned and destroyed. Free inspection covers appearance — style, colour, size and model — with three photos per item and three extra for Weidian; more detailed photography, a second inspection, a QC video or a live model try-on are paid. Typical published prices include roughly $1.93 for power-on testing of electronics, $3.23 for a product video or ironing, $4.84 for a live try-on photo, $1.61 for plastic sealing or a month of extended storage, $0.80 for wire trimming or a foldable shoebox and about $40 for a wooden crate. Parcel-level extras include priority shipping, moisture-proof bags, stretch film, packaging video and custom EPE foam reinforcement. Treat the list as indicative and confirm in the order flow, since prices are set in CNY and converted.

Shipping: deposit, consolidation and delivery

Superbuy runs more than 100 international lines to over 200 countries and regions, spanning economy postal and YunExpress-style services, express DHL and FedEx, EMS, tax-inclusive DDP routes and sea freight for bulky hauls. The platform quotes from final packed weight, dimensions, line and destination, which is why an estimate taken before consolidation is only a planning number. You pay a deposit first; after packing, the parcel is weighed and the difference is refunded or charged under Superbuy's rules. Consolidating several orders is free, and reducing volumetric weight — collapsing shoeboxes, vacuum-compressing clothing, skipping excess packaging — often saves more than switching lines. Very large or restricted categories can hit carrier limits, so check the mail restrictions page for your destination before finalising a haul.

Where Superbuy is not the right fit

Superbuy is strongest for buyers who want documented fees, long free storage and deep QC options on mainstream Chinese marketplaces. It is less attractive if you only buy one cheap item and ship immediately, because the value of the free storage window and consolidation never materialises; if you buy mainly from second-hand or unlisted sources, where the purchasing fee applies; or if you need the absolute lowest per-kilo express rate, since freight varies by line and promotional period rather than by agent loyalty. Buyers who want a single all-in checkout price may also find the two-stage billing and deposit reconciliation harder to budget than a flat quote. Superbuy is most used in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and France, and its support team operates in English and Chinese.

How to use Superbuy

  1. Step 1 — Find the item and copy the link

Browse the Superbuy Spreadsheet or the marketplace directly, compare sellers on price and listed details, then copy the product URL. The spreadsheet is a discovery aid: it shows product links, images, prices and store information in one table, but the order itself is always placed on Superbuy.
  2. Step 2 — Submit the order and pay Stage 1

Paste the link, choose the variant and add seller notes, then pay the item price plus domestic postage. Check the purchasing-fee line: 0% on Taobao, Tmall, JD.com and 1688, a flat CN¥20 on Xianyu, Paipai and Zhuanzhuan, or 10% on unlisted sources. Top up by Wise or bank transfer for the lowest published fee, or by card for speed.
  3. Step 3 — Review QC photos and manage storage

When the item reaches the warehouse you receive three free arrival photos and the 90-day free storage clock starts. Approve the item, request a return if something is wrong, or buy extras such as detailed photos, re-inspection, power-on testing or ironing. Remember that tag removal, shoebox disposal and electronic testing usually make the item non-returnable.
  4. Step 4 — Consolidate, pay Stage 2 and ship

Select the arrived items, pick a destination and shipping line, and let Superbuy combine them into one parcel. Pay the freight deposit based on estimated weight, then settle any difference once the packed parcel is weighed and measured. Add reinforced or vacuum packing only where it beats the cost of the extra volumetric weight.
Using Superbuy is easiest if you think of it as a sequence of checkpoints rather than a single purchase. Each checkpoint has its own vocabulary and its own bill, and most first-order confusion comes from mixing them up. Checkpoint 1 — sourcing. You find a product on Taobao, Tmall, JD.com, 1688 or a second-hand platform and copy the link. The Superbuy Spreadsheet is a search layer that lists products with links, images, prices and store details in table form so you can compare sellers before committing; from there you copy the link straight into the Superbuy order box. The spreadsheet is a discovery tool, not a shop, so the actual purchase always happens on Superbuy. Checkpoint 2 — the domestic order, sometimes called Stage 1. You submit the link, choose colour, size and any seller notes, and pay the item price plus domestic postage. This is where the purchasing fee line appears: zero for mainstream platforms, a flat CN¥20 for Xianyu, Paipai and Zhuanzhuan, and 10% within a CN¥10-20 band for other or unlisted sources. Read this line before you pay, because a cheap item from an unusual platform can cost more in fees than the item itself. Checkpoint 3 — warehouse check-in and QC. When the seller's parcel reaches the warehouse, the item is logged in and photographed. You get three free photos, and the free storage clock starts. Look at the photos before the storage window runs down: this is the point where a return or exchange is still cheap. Paid add-ons include detailed multi-angle photography, re-inspection, power-on testing for electronics and live try-on photos. Anything that alters the item — cutting tags, binning the shoebox, testing electronics — generally ends the return option. Checkpoint 4 — consolidation. When everything you want has arrived, you select the items, choose a destination and a shipping line, and Superbuy packs them into one parcel. Consolidation itself is free; packing extras such as vacuum bags, corner protectors, moisture barriers, stretch film or a wooden crate are charged. Removing shoeboxes is the single most effective way to reduce volumetric weight on a clothing haul, but only request it on items you intend to keep. Checkpoint 5 — international shipping, or Stage 2. You pay a deposit based on estimated weight, line and destination. After packing the parcel is reweighed and measured, and the final freight is settled against your deposit under Superbuy's rules. Adding items after you have paid a shipping quote does not guarantee the same price. Track the parcel through the order page and confirm delivery, which also feeds loyalty credit back into your account. Checkpoint 6 — after-sales. If something arrives damaged or wrong, open a ticket with the warehouse photos as evidence. Superbuy's after-sales policy covers compensation and insurance claims, but claims are far stronger when you inspected the QC images before shipping rather than after the parcel crossed a border. Practical cautions: do not treat a shipping estimate as a quote; do not let items sit past 90 free days; do not assume every platform is fee-free; and do not stack paid extras on low-value items where the service costs more than the product. New accounts sometimes receive promotional shipping credit and points, but treat those as time-limited bonuses rather than part of your budget.

No basic fee on Taobao, Tmall, JD.com and 1688 — the waiver is described as lifetime. Xianyu, Paipai and Zhuanzhuan orders cost a flat CN¥20, and unlisted or other second-hand sources are charged 10% within a CN¥10–20 band.
How long can items sit in the Superbuy warehouse?
Storage is free for 90 days from check-in. After that it costs CN¥0.1 per item per day, the hard limit is 180 days, and unshipped items beyond that are treated as abandoned and destroyed. Extended storage can be bought in advance.
How is international shipping charged, and is the quote final?
You pay a deposit based on estimated weight, line and destination. After packing, the parcel is reweighed and measured and the difference is refunded or charged. Consolidating multiple orders is free; adding items later does not guarantee the original rate.
